Trump’s Cabinet Meeting After Iran Attack Raises Concerns
President Donald Trump is set to hold a unique Cabinet meeting at Camp David shortly after a recent U.S. military strike on Iran, which has sparked worries around the developing peace agreement.
According to a report from a news outlet, all Cabinet members, including Secretary of Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard—who just resigned—are expected to participate in the meeting scheduled for Wednesday.
A White House representative mentioned that the agenda will focus on “the administration’s recent achievements, encompassing economic and small business progress, updates from the Task Force on Combating Fraud, and various foreign policy matters.”
Interestingly, Trump has only visited the military base in Maryland about 16 times during his presidency. This marks his 12th Cabinet meeting since he returned to office in 2025.
Late Monday, the United States targeted locations in southern Iran, which was characterized by a spokesperson from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) as an act of “self-defense” to safeguard U.S. forces from potential Iranian military threats.
“U.S. Central Command is committed to protecting our military with restraint during the ceasefire,” the spokesperson remarked, clarifying that the targeted sites included Iranian missile launchers and vessels attempting to deploy mines.
Over the preceding weekend, Trump conducted a conference call with leaders from neighboring Middle Eastern countries. Following this, he expressed on his Truth Social platform that “a deal is almost negotiated” with Iran.
He also guaranteed that the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime route which the Iranian government has leveraged in negotiations, would remain open for oil and gas supplies to the global market.
On the other hand, Iran’s Mojtaba Khamenei issued multiple statements condemning America through social media posts early Tuesday, threatening U.S. military outposts while lauding “#weapon_of_AllahuAkbar,” which he suggested signifies a significant weaponization effort.
In a tweet, Khamenei claimed, “The Islamic State of Iran has liberated itself from the clutches of the greedy and arrogant United States and eradicated Zionist influence.”
Khamenei reiterated that the “weapon” enabled the Iranian military to achieve substantial victories against heavy-armed American forces, further asserting that Gulf states would no longer act as protective shields for U.S. military installations.
The religious leader elaborated, stating, “The hands of time cannot turn back. Countries and lands in this region will no longer act as shields for U.S. military bases.”
He expressed that the U.S. would not find a safe harbor for its military activities in West Asia going forward, declaring that chants of “Defeat America” and “Defeat Israel” could soon resonate through communities, particularly among the oppressed and youth globally.
