Trump Engages Middle Eastern Leaders on Peace Talks

President Donald Trump recently conducted a conference call with leaders from several Middle Eastern nations to explore the potential for a peace agreement involving the United States and Iran.

On Saturday, from the Oval Office, Trump communicated via Truth Social with prominent figures including Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud and the UAE’s Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with leaders from Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain. Trump expressed having had “very good talks” with various officials including Qatar’s Prime Minister and the Field Marshal of Pakistan.

He noted that the conversations revolved around “all matters related to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the peace memorandum.”

“The agreement has been largely negotiated and is subject to finalization between the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and various other countries involved,” Trump stated.

“I also had a successful call with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu,” he added. “We’re currently discussing the final aspects and details of the agreement, which will be announced soon. Besides many other elements, the Strait of Hormuz will also be opened.”

As U.S. and Iranian negotiators work on a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) facilitated by Pakistan, Trump previously mentioned it was “solid 50/50” regarding military action in Iran versus reaching a permanent solution to the ongoing conflict.

“Either we come to a good agreement or I’ll blow them into a thousand hells,” he remarked.

Trump mentioned that an update on the negotiations might come out Sunday.

Pakistan has indicated that “facilitating progress has been made towards a final understanding.”

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei referred to the proposal as a “framework agreement,” expressing hope it would encompass critical issues to halt the ongoing conflict.

“We hope this will include the main issues needed to end the imposed war and other important matters,” Baghai communicated, adding that further discussions on specifics will take place over the next 30 to 60 days.

During a trip to India, Secretary of State Marco Rubio hinted at developments in the negotiation process, saying, “We’ve made some progress.” However, he added with a touch of uncertainty, “We may have news later today. We may not. I hope there is, but we don’t know yet.”

Rubio reiterated the administration’s stance against Iran developing nuclear weapons and mentioned that efforts were ongoing to deal with Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

“There is some work being done as I speak,” he stated.

Interestingly, Trump opted to skip his son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding celebration on the same day, citing “this thing called Iran.”

Vice President J.D. Vance made an unexpected visit to the White House during the meeting, which led to footage of his motorcade making waves online.
