A frantic search is currently underway for a 4-year-old girl from Southern California, identified as Daleeza Fregoso. Authorities believe she was taken by her father, Ruben Fregoso, who is also implicated in her mother’s homicide.
An Amber Alert has been activated by the California Highway Patrol regarding Daleeza, who was last seen with her father, 40, in the West Adams area of Los Angeles. A welfare check at their home revealed the body of an adult woman, prompting police to investigate further.
Police have indicated that initial findings suggest the victim died due to violent circumstances. Footage from the scene shows a medical examiner’s vehicle and the removal of a body from the residence.
Daleeza and her father were reportedly last spotted near Alsace Avenue and Ferndale Street. The vehicle associated with them, a White Land Rover, has since been found in San Ysidro, a town in San Diego County.
Reportedly, authorities located another vehicle they believe is linked to the kidnapping at a mall near the border with Mexico. Daleeza is described as having black hair and brown eyes, weighing about 45 pounds and standing 3 feet tall. Ruben, her father, is described as weighing 200 pounds and standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, with similar features.
It remains unclear if Ruben has any family in Mexico. Investigators have also revealed that he had made comments suggesting he might try to escape the country. Police are now appealing for public help in locating Daleeza and are actively seeking any information about their whereabouts.
Amber Alerts are issued when a child is confirmed as abducted and is believed to be in immediate danger. Further comments from the Los Angeles Police Department are awaited.
