Dialing 911 because a bar refuses to serve you a Jell-O shot is considered a misuse of emergency services by the police.

Recently, a woman was jailed at the taxpayer’s expense after calling 911 multiple times due to dissatisfaction with service at a bar, specifically related to Jell-O shots, as reported by Marion County Deputies. The woman, Diane Blalock, allegedly insisted that a dispatcher help her secure the shots at No Where Bar in Ocala, Florida.

According to the arrest affidavit, Blalock had gone to the bar with a friend, but her friend left before she made her calls. After failing to reach the 68-year-old by phone, a deputy was eventually dispatched. Upon arrival, the officer found Blalock sitting outside. Initially seeking assistance for the Jell-O shots, her request transitioned into asking for a ride home due to a medical condition that made walking difficult.

The deputies informed her that law enforcement couldn’t provide transport in such cases. Additionally, the bar owner noted that Blalock had previously received a trespass warning, which the officers confirmed.

During her arrest, a search revealed a small amount of marijuana and two pipes. Blalock acknowledged having been drinking and smoking marijuana prior to the encounter, leading to an evaluation by Marion County Fire Rescue.

After being assessed by medical personnel, Blalock was taken to Marion County Jail and charged with misuse of 911 services, trespassing, and possession of under 20 grams of marijuana. This incident highlights the importance of reserving emergency services for actual emergencies, rather than for beverage-related grievances.
