Eighteen-year-old Jamario Baker named as the victim in the mass shooting at the graduation ceremony of Fairfield High School

Authorities have identified the 18-year-old victim of a shooting that followed a graduation ceremony at Fairfield High School as Jamario Baker. Tragically, Baker was still in his cap and gown when he was shot.

Fairfield police reported that the incident took place Wednesday evening in a parking lot close to Schaefer Stadium, right after the graduation ceremony for Cem Yeto High School, which is also part of Fairfield High School.

The mayor of Fairfield, Katherine Moy, mentioned that Baker had just collected his diploma from the continuation high school before the violence erupted.

The shooting occurred around 7:15 p.m., leading to a swift emergency response in the area.

With approximately 1,000 attendees at the event, witnesses may number in the hundreds.

Aside from Baker, three other individuals—ages 11, 20, and 25—sustained injuries in the shooting.

As of Saturday, there have been no arrests, and police are actively investigating, although details about a suspect remain undisclosed.

On Friday, police asked the public for any photos, videos, or information related to the shooting, urging anyone with relevant details to reach out. The statement from the department emphasized their commitment to pursuing all leads in order to hold those responsible for this tragic act accountable.
