Lindsey Graham and Rand Paul Support Trump's Agreement with Iran

Republican Support for Trump’s Iran Memorandum

Several Republican lawmakers have expressed their support for President Donald Trump’s recent memorandum with Iran. Senators Lindsey Graham from South Carolina and Rand Paul from Kentucky are among those who have commended this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), critiquing those who oppose it as responsible for past unsuccessful interventions.

Graham shared on social media about a positive discussion he had regarding Iran, mentioning that he believes signing the memorandum is advantageous for the U.S. if it leads to reducing hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He indicated that while it’s uncertain whether a satisfactory agreement on Iran’s nuclear program can be achieved, he sees value in making the attempt.

Paul, too, voiced his thoughts, emphasizing his long-standing warnings against regime change wars and military interventions. He suggested that those criticizing Trump’s deal are actually the same people linked to previous failures. He expressed his support for Trump’s efforts toward peace, saying, “This war must end.”

Representative Mark Alford from Missouri commented on the current news climate, suggesting there’s a lot of misinformation floating around. He expressed his inclination to trust Trump over the Iranian regime, which, in his view, has been deceitful for decades. Alford mentioned hopefulness about finalizing the agreement based on information he received from the White House.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich also weighed in, praising Trump for steering the country away from what he called the Obama-Biden approach without escalating to a ground war. He remarked on Trump’s ability to achieve what many viewed as impossible with the Iranian regime.

It has been reported that President Trump signed a copy of the memorandum after its contents were disclosed to reporters.
