Florida Man Charged in Girlfriend’s Stabbing Death
A man from Florida faces serious charges following the alleged stabbing of his girlfriend multiple times in their home. Reports suggest that Kyle Sanchez, 35, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder for the death of Amanda Rourke, 37.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call on June 19, just after 3 p.m. The call indicated an emergency situation at a residence on Tuscan Loon Drive in the Palm River area.
Upon their arrival, deputies found Rourke’s lifeless body with several upper body injuries. Sanchez, who was present at the scene, had minor injuries and was later transported to Tampa General Hospital in stable condition.
According to investigators, the incident occurred while the couple was at home together. During a pretrial hearing, prosecutors played a recording of Sanchez’s 911 call in which he admitted, “I killed my girlfriend.”
Sanchez has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder involving a deadly weapon, specifically accused of stabbing Rourke 15 times. Following a hearing where both sides presented their arguments, the judge chose to deny bail, keeping Sanchez in custody as the murder investigation unfolds.
Up to this point, law enforcement has not disclosed any motive behind the attack or any additional details about what led to this tragic incident.
Amanda Rourke worked for SOFWERX, a tech organization based in Tampa that supports U.S. Special Operations Command. They expressed their grief over her passing, describing her as a valued member of their team and a significant presence in the Tampa community.
Talia Landman, a friend from college, remembered Rourke for her big smile and warm personality, noting how she had an impact on others. “She was taken from us in an incredibly tragic way,” Landman shared.
Describing Rourke’s legacy, Landman emphasized her role as a mentor for young women pursuing careers in math, technology, and engineering, asserting that Sanchez didn’t just take Amanda; he took away her aspirations and potential.
The sheriff’s office remarked that the incident appears to be related to domestic circumstances.
