President of Canadian LGBT organization ousted following arrest for alleged sex crimes against children

The former head of a Canadian LGBT activist group has been arrested and charged with multiple sex crimes against children. Sean Gravels served as president of the North Peace Pride Society from 2018 until Friday, when the organization announced his removal from the board following the Jan. 3 vote.

Dan McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the British Columbia Provincial Prosecution Service, said:

A spokesperson for the federal police in Fort St. John declined to provide additional details about Gravelles' arrest to state media.

McLaughlin said he will appear in state court on Jan. 1 and his arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 29.
