Republican presidential primary candidate Nikki Haley said in an interview Tuesday that she is “not considering” author E. Jean Carroll's lawsuit against former President Trump.
“I haven't seen this, but if he's found guilty, he's going to have to pay a price,” Haley said. said in an interview On CNN.
Last year, a jury awarded Carroll $5 million in damages, finding that the former president sexually abused and defamed her. She is now seeking a minimum of $10 million for the then-former president's disavowal. She publicly announced her claims for the first time in 2019.
President Trump made a series of social media posts on Tuesday about Carroll, as he arrived at a New York City courthouse for a trial that will determine how much he must pay because he has already been found guilty. He exploded in anger.
“The only right, honest, and legal thing Clinton-appointed Judge Lewis Kaplan could do is ever see things clearly because of his absolute hatred for Donald J. Trump (me!) What I couldn't do is end this un-American injustice.'' “I've never met, seen, touched (the line in the photo doesn't count!) and I know absolutely nothing about him.'' This is what was done to the President of the United States who was falsely accused by a woman,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Haley finished third in Iowa in the recent Republican caucuses, behind Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, according to projections from The Hill and Decision Desk headquarters. According to election reports from Decision Desk Headquarters/The Hill, Haley received 19.1% of the Hawkeye state caucus vote, trailing closely behind DeSantis, who received 21.2%. However, both were easily defeated by former President Trump, who had an approval rating of 51%.
The Republican nomination race next heads to New Hampshire, where Haley is trailing the former president by just 8 points, according to the average New Hampshire poll from Decision Desk Headquarters/The Hill. She also has the support of New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu (Republican).
