Schiff unveils Jan. 6-themed ad in Senate race: ‘Now we face an even greater danger’

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), who is running for the U.S. Senate, warns the country faces “even greater danger” after former President Trump's victory in Iowa. They announced a new advertisement themed on the 6th of the month.

The ad, titled “Dangerous,” touts Schiff's efforts to hold Trump accountable on a range of issues as the California congressman competes with other Democrats for a Senate seat. Mr. Schiff served as the lead House manager in President Trump's first impeachment.

“When our democracy was at stake, he stood up. Adam Schiff took on a corrupt president. He fought to protect our values ​​and the rule of law.” the narrator of the ad says Focusing on footage of the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6th.

“Now we face an even greater danger,” the ad's narrator says as it mirrors a New York Times headline, “Why Trump's second Trump presidency will be more radical than his first.”

“We need Adam Schiff now more than ever,” the ad reads.

Mr. Schiff's office said the ad was backed by a five-digit buy.

House Republicans passed a resolution to censure Schiff in June, citing his relentless criticism of the former president.

Schiff was also forced by former Chairman Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to resign from the House Intelligence Committee in early 2023, after four years as chairman.

Schiff officially launched his candidacy in January for the Senate seat previously held by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who died in September 2023.

He faces a crowded primary race, but has the backing of the state's top politicians, including Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and a majority of the state's other Democrats.
