“I think there's a very simple reason why Donald Trump would make closing arguments in what could be the last contested primary when it comes to Viktor Orbán,” Maddow said. . That's exactly what he offers. This is a special sauce. Donald Trump leads the field of Republican candidates not because of his youthful exuberance, policy preferences, or eloquence. This is what he is offering. ”
She continued, “If you elect me, that's the end of politics and you don't have to deal with politics anymore. You don't have to deal with contested elections, you don't have to deal with fights and divisions over power. I don't even have to deal with it. I have a strong leader and I just do what I want. Wouldn't it be easier? That's what he's offering. That strongman model. That's what the Republican base aspires to.”
Maddow added, “That's what sets him apart from other Republican candidates.” I think we're naive that he's tricking people into choosing him, and then we're surprised that he acts like a dictator. What he proposes is the leadership of the strong, the end of politics, the end of elections, and the sidelining or taming of the judiciary and parliament. He will be in charge and get it done.
