I Offered to Let Biden Use Guard on Border, He Won’t and Blames Congress

On CNBC’s Friday broadcast of “Squawk Box,” Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) offered to authorize President Joe Biden to use the Connecticut Guard to help with border security, but Biden said He said he would not.

Co-host Andrew Ross Sorkin said, “You may need housing for other reasons, immigration, where people are being bussed, but not in the same way that’s happening here.” No. What do you think about America’s immigration problem, and what do you think about the blue states that thought this was an issue for a long time? It wasn’t an issue in my backyard, but now it is?”

Lamont replied: “It’s all over my backyard, Governor. [Phil] Scott (R), who is from Vermont, and I just wrote together, and these two states that we don’t think are on the forefront of immigration are hitting us hard. You can see what it is doing to the country. They have to secure their borders. I’ll tell President Biden, if you need it to get it done, we’ll send the Connecticut Guard to help you. ”

Sorkin then asked, “So what does he tell you?”

Mr. Lamont replied: “We’re trying to get a bipartisan compromise. You know Congress, things take a long time. They have to get it done.”
