U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed Friday that it has arrested at least 12 undocumented immigrants with prior convictions or convictions related to child exploitation following a national operation.
The arrests were made in Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Texas.
At least 171 illegal immigrants have been arrested in 25 cities across the country, charged or convicted of crimes including murder, manslaughter and child sexual assault.

“Uncitizens who commit abhorrent acts at the expense of children should not be allowed to claim our great country as their home,” Drew Bostock, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Seattle Field Office Director, said in a statement. Ta.
He added, “The arrests made by ERO Seattle during this national operation are an example of the continued contributions we are making locally to protect America from child predators.”
The nationwide operation, dubbed Operation Nightguard, was carried out from January 16th to 28th.

Arrests in the Pacific Northwest and Texas include:
- A 34-year-old Mexican national from Los Fresnos, Texas, was found guilty of child sexual assault.
- A 58-year-old Mexican national from Laredo, Texas, was convicted of a felony count of attempted indecent exposure.
- A 62-year-old Mexican national from Edinburg, Texas, was convicted of felony lewd acts and sexual contact with a child.
- A 49-year-old Mexican citizen from Laredo, Texas, who was convicted of felony indecency with a child, makes the disclosure.
- A 53-year-old Salvadoran national from Tacoma, Washington. She was convicted of felonies of first-degree child abuse, second-degree child sexual abuse, and third-degree child rape.
- A 42-year-old Mexican national from Moses Lake, Washington, was found guilty of dealing in sexually explicit acts with a minor.
- A 39-year-old Mexican national was sentenced in Federal Way, Washington. Communicating with minors for immoral purposes.
- A 69-year-old Mexican national from Yakima, Washington, was found guilty of dealing in sexually explicit acts with a minor.
- A 58-year-old Mexican national from Yakima, Washington, was found guilty. of child sexual abuse in First degree child sexual abuse, second degree rape of a child, and third degree rape of a child.
- Convicted 43-year-old Mexican national from Woodburn, Oregon first-degree sexual abuse of a minor;
And on Thursday, ERO Los Angeles announced the arrest of 26 illegal immigrants who have been charged or convicted of murder, manslaughter, and assault on children.

The arrests come amid a huge wave of immigrants entering the country illegally under the Biden administration, including 302,034 encounters in December.

The issue has become a politically thorny issue for President Biden with the election just months away, and Republicans have also waded into the issue, with many Republicans saying House Speaker Mike Johnson may be “dead on arrival.” He criticizes the bipartisan border bill supported by the Senate.
In fiscal year 2023, ERO arrested 73,822 immigrants on criminal charges including sexual assault, murder, and kidnapping.
