Biden rallies House Democrats, calls Trump and his MAGA friends ‘losers’

LEESBURG, Va. — President Biden called former President Trump and his allies losers in Congress during a rally with House Democrats on Thursday.

Biden expects House Democrats to be more confident heading into 2024 when they aim to take back the House, and 2022 has been a good year for Democrats, who experienced better-than-expected midterm results and built a slim lead in the House. He pointed out.

“If voters can choose between what we stand for and what Trump and the MAGA Republicans stand for, we will win,” he said. “This makes Trump and his MAGA friends losers.”

“We are investing in America, restoring pride to our communities and pride to our country. I want to thank you for doing the job you chose to do. It is important to the American people and I think we are in a position to win in 2024,” the president said at the caucus’ annual strategy retreat in Leesburg.

Biden also criticized President Trump for his role in pushing hard for a bipartisan border deal and accused him of trying to intimidate Republican lawmakers into opposing the bill.

“As a bipartisan group, you have worked very hard for a long time to address border issues,” he said. “So, guess what? Donald Trump is said to have called people and said, ‘If you support it, I’ll come after you,’ but I can’t prove this. you can’t.”

“Are we here to solve problems, or are we just here to use those problems as weapons of political attack?” Biden added.

“We’re here to serve the American people,” he said of Democrats.

Biden is no stranger to the Democratic Party’s annual gathering, speaking at rallies for years as vice president under former President Barack Obama before taking over as keynote speaker himself when he became president.

This year, in preparation for November, they did their best to liven up the friendly atmosphere of the audience.

“If we come together, we can beat House Republicans and their cynical political games,” he said.

On the way out, some Democrats, especially Hispanic leaders, were furious that the White House and Senate had excluded them from negotiations on a border security bill. But those complaints disappeared once Biden arrived.

The response from the packed venue was generous. He received a long standing ovation when he opened the session, and another standing ovation when he closed with Speaker Hakeem Jeffries (New York)’s vision for the next Congress.

The president began his remarks by speaking briefly about Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on the handling of classified documents. He specifically highlighted parts of the report that compared his handling of his own documents to President Trump’s handling of documents, saying he was “pleased” that the special counsel had made a “clear difference” between the two cases. “I am doing so,” he said.

“This issue is over,” he added, pounding his fist on the podium.
