A U.S. Border Patrol agent was injured during a pursuit near the Arizona-Mexico border, authorities said Tuesday.

The U.S. Border Patrol said the officer was attacked around 8 a.m. at an immigration checkpoint on State Route 86 near Three Points outside Tucson, Arizona.

CBP immigrant encounters have already exceeded 1 million since October

The vehicle that hit the agent was being pursued by the Tohono O’odham Police Department. The agent was taken to Banner University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
