Former Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill slammed the media, demanding they stop fact-checking President Joe Biden until they fact-check former President Donald Trump.
McCaskill was appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” at the time. complained Because of Trump, the United States has embarrassed other countries.
“As I travel, people say, ‘You’re not going to elect him again, are you? Hasn’t the country learned? You’re not going to give this man power again, are you?’ Please tell us you’re not going to do that.” I hope you get re-elected. Please tell us you learned your lesson,” she said.
“So the only stain on America, the great country of the world, is really Donald Trump,” McCaskill added.
“So may I suggest? Until every newspaper in America fact-checks Donald Trump on their front page every morning, I think they should stop fact-checking Joe Biden altogether,” she continued. Ta. “It’s ridiculous that the New York Times fact-checked Joe Biden about something. I mean, he lies, and so does Trump. Every day, over and over again.”
She went on to ridicule the New York Times for fact-checking Biden while being “insensitive” to the “torrent of lies” coming from President Trump. Host Joe Scarborough agreed with McCaskill, saying constant lying is a tactic used by fascists.
The Times fact-checked several economic claims made by Biden and called them “misleading statements.” These included false accusations about tax rates for the 400 wealthiest households, relying on false data that ignored other taxes paid. The Times also accused the president of overestimating the amount of private investment spurred by CHIPS and the Science Act by three times the actual figure.
Mr. McCaskill served as a senator from Missouri from 2007 to 2019.
