New York Attorney General Letitia James, who ran vowing to defeat former President Donald Trump, gloats about the $354.8 million fine imposed on X since winning the case in county court two weeks ago. There is.
President Trump plans to appeal a ruling in a civil fraud case in which he is accused of inflating his net worth to obtain favorable bank loans and then repaying them.
But before he can appeal, Trump must first pay a $354.8 million fine ordered by Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron. He is also owed interest, which is expected to reach $100 million.

Ms. James said she was prepared to seize former President Donald Trump’s assets if she could not find the cash to cover the fine.
“If he doesn’t have the funds to repay the judgment, we will ask the court for a mechanism to enforce the judgment and we will ask the judge to seize his assets,” she said in an interview with ABC News last week.
Asked about Trump’s defense that banks had repaid all loans and there were no victims in the case, James dodged the question.
“He engaged in this huge fraud. It wasn’t just a mistake or a slight oversight, the variations were greatly exaggerated and the scope of the fraud was astonishing,” she claimed. She also posed a hypothetical situation: “If the average New Yorker went to a bank and submitted false documents, the government would throw the book at them, and the same should be true for a former president.”
James said she is keeping an eye on President Trump’s building at 40 Wall Street, known as the “Trump Building.”
“We are preparing to make sure that New Yorkers are sentenced. Yes, I watch 40 Wall Street every day,” she said.

She also gloated about columnist E. Jean Carroll and her struggles with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ case against Trump, saying, “Somebody asked me to do something.” I once told a woman to do it if she wanted to,” she said.
The judge in Carroll’s case ordered Trump to pay her $83.3 million for defamation.
