A female passenger fell ill and died on an American Airlines flight from the Dominican Republic to North Carolina.
The 41-year-old woman, identified online by relatives as a mother of two from Indiana, was boarding American Airlines Flight 2790 from Punta Cana to Charlotte when she suddenly became ill, according to Royal Turks and Caicos Island Police. He said it got worse. Announced on social media.
Police said the plane was diverted to Providenciales International Airport in the Turks and Caicos Islands for further medical treatment and crew members attempted to resuscitate the woman.
Police said they received a report of an emergency landing at 6:12pm on the same day and dispatched a medical team.
Police said the woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. “An autopsy will be conducted to confirm the cause of death.”
The passenger’s identity has not been released, but she is a woman from central Indiana. According to Fox 59.
A woman on Facebook also identified the passenger as her sister-in-law.
“We are in disbelief and heartbroken,” Stephanie Quinn wrote in response to the statement from Royal Turks and Caicos Police.
Quinn described her sister-in-law as the only girl among five children and the mother of two “big-hearted, honest, beautiful children.”
“She’s still out there, so please take good care of her until she gets home,” Quinn implored.
Flight 2790 ultimately landed in Miami around 10:33 p.m. According to FlightAware — Flight tracking website.
The newspaper has reached out to American Airlines and Quinn for comment.
