SCOTUS Reverse on Trump Ballot Ban Incoherent, ‘Shoddy Legal Work All Around’

Attorney George Conway told CNN’s “The Source” on Monday that the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision to overturn the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision disqualifying former President Donald Trump from voting was “a sloppy move by all the justices.” “It was legal work,” he said.

Conway said, “I think they had a very hard time because I think all three of their opinions make absolutely no sense. I think these opinions are basically incoherent and I think they’re basically arbitrary. And I think this shows that the court had a hard time choosing an exit here, which is to say, they decided between Trump’s main argument that the president is somehow not an official of the United States, and that the president completely rejected the alternative argument that there was no rebellion.

Anchor Caitlan Collins said, “Why do you think that happened?”

“Because he’s definitely an insurrectionist,” Conway said. It would be ridiculous for the court to try to redefine what it means to commit an insurrection and insurrection, and what an insurrection is, and then try to apply that to letting Donald Trump get away with it. It would be. And that’s what the court feared. They didn’t want to go there. And we see such fear in opinions and consensus opinions. ”

He added: “Frankly, just as you can’t make a difference between a majority opinion and a consensus opinion, you can’t make a difference.” It’s just shoddy legal work by all the judges. ”
