MSNBC host Nicole Wallace on Friday noted that former President Trump’s daughter-in-law was recently elected co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC).
“Now we have nepo-RNC,” Wallace quipped on Friday’s “Deadline: The White House.”
The RNC voted Friday to make former North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley and Lara Trump, wife of the former president’s son Eric, the organization’s chairman and co-chairman, respectively. Former RNC Secretary Ronna McDaniel faced conflict with President Trump during her primary campaign season, and she resigned from her position.
Lara said the organization has already received a check for $100,000 and noted the importance of fundraising and promoting early voting when he spoke to RNC committee members on Friday.
“We have to play the game a little differently. We have to encourage people to vote early and things like that,” she said.
Whatley, a strong supporter of the former president, said when speaking to RNC members that the RNC will be “laser-like focused on getting votes and protecting ballots.”
“In eight months, we will decide the fate of not just the United States, but the entire world,” he said. “And this organization, the RNC, will continue to work tirelessly every day to elect our candidate, Donald J. Trump, as the 47th President of the United States, flip the Senate, and expand our majority in Congress. He will be the vanguard of the movement,” the House of Representatives. ”
