President Joe Biden has apologized for describing Laken Hope Riley’s murder suspect as an “illegal immigrant.” Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump met with the family of a murdered nursing student before a rally in Georgia.
During the State of the Union address, the president confronted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and yelled at Biden, “Say your name!”
The 81-year-old president got Riley’s name wrong, which angered Laken’s mother, who called her “pathetic.”
“Lincoln, this is Lincoln Riley, an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal alien,” Biden said in his SOTU speech.
As Blaze News previously reported, several Democrats were outraged that Biden referred to Riley’s alleged killer as an “illegal immigrant.” This is despite the fact that murder suspect Jose Antonio Ibarra is a Venezuelan national who entered the United States illegally in September 2022.
“He should have said ‘undocumented,'” declared Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) lectured the president, saying, “Let me be clear: No one is illegal.”
Biden walked back his “illegal immigrant” comment in an interview on MSNBC that aired Saturday night.
MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart asked Biden about calling Riley’s murder suspect an illegal immigrant.
Biden responded, “He’s an illegal alien. And he shouldn’t have used the word ‘illegal.'” It is ‘undocumented’. ”
Mr. Capehart asked Mr. Biden if he regretted using the term illegal immigrant, to which Mr. Biden replied, “Yes.”
Biden pointed at Trump and quickly shifted gears.
“He talks about ‘vermin,'” Biden said of Trump. How he speaks of these people as “tainting blood.” “I talked about what I wouldn’t do. What I wouldn’t do, I wouldn’t treat these people with contempt.”
“Look, they built the country,” Biden declared.
“It was a great honor to meet with Ms. Riley’s family and friends backstage,” Trump said ahead of a rally in Georgia on Saturday night.

Trump went on to say, “She meant the world to my parents, my sister, and my entire family.”
Trump also criticized Biden, who apologized for calling the alleged killer of the slain student an illegal immigrant, prompting a chorus of boos from the crowd.
“I say he was an illegal immigrant. He was an illegal immigrant. He was an illegal immigrant,” Trump declared. “And he shouldn’t be in our country and never would have been under Trump policies.”
“And Biden should apologize for apologizing to this murderer,” Trump said.
President Trump accused Biden of having “no intention of stopping the deadly invasion that claimed Laken’s precious American life.”
President Trump said of Democrats’ refusal to use the term illegal immigrants: “They have a new name that’s even worse. They have a new name. Do you know what the new name is? ?The neighbors. They want to call them neighbors. They want to call them neighbors.” Another name – newcomer. Newcomer to our country. Are we crazy or what? ”
