Turner disagrees with Trump’s migrant comments, but says he’s the only candidate to ‘fix this crisis’

Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) on Sunday objected to former President Donald Trump’s comments on immigration, saying he and “the American people do not agree.”

Turner appeared on ABC’s “This Week” and was asked about Trump’s comments by Martha Raddatz while campaigning for U.S. Senate candidate Bernie Moreno in Ohio on Saturday. President Trump has criticized some illegal immigrants as “not human beings” and warned there will be “bloodshed” if he is not re-elected.

Turner said he disagreed with Trump’s comments, but held President Biden responsible for the border situation.

“I don’t think the American people agree with these opinions, but I think they think that Donald Trump is the only person who can solve this crisis. Joe Biden created the border crisis. ” he said.

Turner said he was not present at Saturday’s rally in Ohio.

Mr. Raddatz also asked Mr. Turner if he supported a bipartisan border package, to which Mr. Turner said he did not.

“It would have codified Joe Biden’s policy of allowing millions of illegal aliens to cross the border each year. This process was the result of Mr. Biden’s executive orders and He opened the border and created a crisis,” Turner said.
