California man killed in mountain lion attack, one injured

A brutal mountain lion attack claimed the life of a 21-year-old California man and left his brother with “traumatic injuries,” authorities said.

Two brothers, ages 18 and 21, were reportedly horn hunting in Georgetown, California. A mountain lion attacked two people in a remote wilderness area of ​​Northern California on Saturday afternoon.

During the ferocious mountain lion attack, the brothers were separated in an area about 40 miles northeast of Sacramento.

According to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, the brother called 911 to report an animal attack at 1:13 p.m.

Officers began searching for the brothers around 1:46 p.m.

Officers and paramedics located the brother and came across a mountain lion crouched on the ground next to a 21-year-old California man, authorities said.law enforcement officer reportedly He fired shots “to scare away the mountain lion so we could help the men on the ground.”

Sadly, his brother succumbed to his injuries from the mountain lion attack and was already dead by the time paramedics reached him.

The 18-year-old brother suffered “trauma” to his face and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities have not released the names of the man who died in the animal attack or his brother who was injured.

California Department of Fish and Wildlife wardens and El Dorado County trappers were called to locate the mountain lion involved in the deadly attack. Officials said the mountain lion was spotted and “dispatched” by Animal Services officials.

Mountain lions attack humans very rarely.
