Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), a powerful ally of President Trump, announced Monday that an appeals court will issue a $464 million cash judgment related to a New York civil fraud case against former President Donald Trump. Immediately after granting the reprieve, he criticized the Biden administration.
The court said Trump could pay $175 million within 10 days to appeal the $464 million judgment.
In a post about X, Vance said:
The Biden administration wants Trump to die in prison and wants to bankrupt his family. This is the greatest attack on democracy we have ever seen. If you’re too timid to say it out loud, you’re not ready for his moment in American politics.
The last-minute reprieve comes as Trump’s lawyers say it is “impossible” to post $464 million bail and New York Attorney General Letitia James prepares to seize Trump’s assets. This was done in response to this.
Another Trump supporter, Rep. Byron Donald (R-Fla.), called the attempted seizure “extremely un-American.” He posted on X:
