“Mamma Mia!” star Sarah Poyser has been replaced by artificial intelligence in an upcoming BBC project.

The BBC was making a “highly sensitive documentary” and artificial intelligence was an option to recreate the voice of a dying person.
In a statement to Deadline, the BBC said: “We are producing a very sensitive documentary featuring a contributor who is nearing the end of his life and is currently unable to speak.”

“We have worked closely with families to find the best way to represent the voices of contributors when their words are read aloud at the end of the film.”
“Under these very specific circumstances, and with the family’s wishes in mind, we agreed to use AI for a short section to recreate the audio that can now no longer be heard. ” the statement continued. This will be specified in the movie.

Poyser is known for her roles in “EastEnders” and “Playing the Field,” as well as the films “My Last Five Girlfriends” and “The Knife That Killed Me.”
The actress called the news “heartbreaking” and “appropriate” in a post shared with X.
