13-year-old shot and killed elderly man during attempted carjacking in broad daylight, police say

San Antonio police say the 13-year-old boy Admitted A 65-year-old man was shot and killed during an attempted carjacking Saturday afternoon.

Police said Muhammad Khan Pazir confronted the boy in the Walmart parking lot on Blanco Street around 3 p.m.

“The situation escalated to the point where the suspect shot the victim and the victim was pronounced dead in the parking lot,” San Antonio Police Department Information Officer Ricardo Guzman said.

“The suspects fled the scene. They did not steal the vehicle,” he added.

Investigators interviewed several crime witnesses and determined a description of the vehicle involved in the shooting.

They were able to track the car to an apartment complex on Sahara Drive, about three miles from the crime scene. They saw four people come out of the apartment and get into a car, so they set up surveillance and stopped the car. They also determined the car was stolen.

police Said Police said a 13-year-old suspect was driving the vehicle and took him into custody. According to police, the boy admitted to shooting the man during questioning. Three other people in the car were also taken into custody.

Authorities are not releasing the name of the 13-year-old suspect because of his age.

Pazil’s family said he was a caring and loyal man who raised three children.

“You never expected to hear that from someone you know so well and love so much,” said Ouwes Jamali, who has known Pasil for more than 20 years.

“He had a warm smile. He always welcomed me like an older brother,” Jamali said. he told KENS-TV. “He was always asking about my family, my kids, how I was doing. He was a caring person. He was a community-building kind of person.”

The man’s alleged murder was particularly painful for Muslims because it occurred during the last days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The boy was charged with multiple charges including capital murder, felony evading arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Police said they also had a warrant out for his arrest before the shooting.
