Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) is introducing a bill that would block President Joe Biden from offering taxpayer-funded college prep programs to undocumented immigrants. This program targets low-income American youth.
Banks, who is running for the U.S. Senate, said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News that she would introduce the “America Students First Act.”
The bill would block Biden’s Education Department from expanding the federal TRIO program to illegal aliens.
“It’s disgusting and un-American that the Biden administration is trying to use tax dollars from truckers and farmers to fund college prep classes for illegal immigrants,” Banks told Breitbart News. . “All the while, our test scores are at record lows.”

TRIO’s college preparation program, like the federal Pell Grant program, targets low-income American youth and green card students.
“Rather than preparing undocumented immigrants for college, the Biden administration should focus on undoing the unprecedented learning losses that occurred during school closures,” Banks said.
