Man stabbed outside NYC migrant shelter

A man was stabbed Wednesday outside a New York City hotel used to house migrants, authorities said.

The 23-year-old victim suffered a flesh wound to the back of his neck outside the Roosevelt Hotel in midtown Manhattan, the New York City Police Department told Fox News Digital.

The hotel has been converted into a migrant shelter for newly arrived asylum seekers.

Police said the victim walked to Mount Sinai West Hospital and was expected to survive.

No arrests have been made, but the New York City Police Department said two suspects are believed to have been involved. Investigators were searching the scene for surveillance cameras.

The Roosevelt Hotel on East 45th Street closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is one of the few hotels that has become an immigrant shelter.

In February, a migrant was stabbed at a shelter across from Central Park. The victim, 24, was stabbed in the abdomen and back. The incident comes after Mayor Eric Adams announced the city would install metal detectors at the Randall Island immigrant shelter after multiple stabbings at the facility.
