A Pennsylvania man who authorities say killed his girlfriend in the Nevada desert has been sentenced.

Authorities have not released the woman’s name. After killing her in September 2019, Chapman allegedly impersonated her on a Facebook Messenger account and lived at her mansion.

Prosecutors say the woman’s neighbor in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, became suspicious after seeing Chapman around her house, even though he hadn’t seen her car in months. Police conducted a welfare check and found identification with Chapman’s name and photo, the victim’s cell phone, zip ties and rolls of duct tape, police said.

Prosecutors said Chapman admitted to leading the woman into believing the two were on a photo shoot trip to Las Vegas. Instead, he took her to the Nevada desert, tied her up and suffocated her, they said. They added that he admitted to murdering his girlfriend for her money.
