If Democratic-run California wants to force its residents to ride electric vehicles (EVs), Democratic-run California should start cracking down on crime. Let’s talk about the law of unintended consequences…
“Thieves are targeting Tesla and other EV charging stations and stealing the heavy cables for the copper metal inside.” report NBC affiliate station in San Francisco. “In Vallejo, someone cut the cables at his nine charging stations, leaving the Tesla driver in a bind and causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage and repair costs.”
A local EV driver added: “I think this is the second or third time this has been cut.” “So they need to put up a gate or something. I don’t know what they can do, but this is pretty inconvenient.”
Don’t you see the beauty in all this…?
EV drivers vote Democratic.
Democrats passed regulations requiring residents to switch to EVs.
Democrats have also passed legislation that essentially decriminalizes the crime.
The thieves destroy EV charging stations to get the copper, knowing that if they get caught it won’t matter much.
The cycle then completes with EV drivers getting what they vote for.
That’s right, the very same Democratic-run cities and states that want to force us to drive battery-powered cars are so soft on crime and criminals that they keep battery-powered cars running. The very things that are necessary for this will be destroyed and rendered useless.
Even better is the fact that one of the main reasons people don’t want to move to EVs is reliability. They fear that they won’t be able to charge because there aren’t enough charging stations available. Such thefts only increase fear.
And how do you stop it? Contrary to what the EV driver said, the gate does not work. If there’s a tool that can cut thick power cords, there’s also a tool that can cut fences and padlocks.
Some may argue that these charging stations would be more protected if they were located at gas stations, but I disagree. The reason thieves don’t target gas pumps has nothing to do with its location and everything to do with the fact that there’s nothing worth stealing at the pump. A sleepy, all-night clerk at a 24-hour service station can’t stop these crimes. And there is no doubt that rumors are spreading among criminals about how easy and lucrative this crime is.
Democrats can’t have both. They cannot be tolerant of crime and cannot require people to drive battery powered cars. The good news is that Democrats will never admit this. Nothing changes. The situation will only get worse as EV drivers taste what they voted for, and the bitterness grows with each passing year.
