GOP’s Online Donation Platform Overwhelmed After Trump Guilty Verdict

Minutes after a Manhattan jury convicted Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s online donation website became overloaded and crashed.

WinRed, the Republican Party’s official online donation platform, was reportedly shut down due to excessive traffic following the ruling.

A Manhattan jury found Trump guilty on all 34 counts, and Judge Juan Merchant set sentencing for July 11, just four days before the Republican National Convention convenes to formally nominate Trump.

Clicking on WinRed’s donation link for the Trump campaign took users to a page indicating the website’s hosting had experienced an error, and other reports said Republican sources confirmed the platform was “overloaded.”

Republicans rallied around Trump after the verdict, with many trying to find a silver lining and a subsequent fundraising surge.

“The bad news is that today Biden leftists in NY made a mockery of our criminal justice system,” Sen. Marco Rubio tweeted. “The good news is that since this farce, the American people have sent Trump over $50 million and his crazy enemies have elected him President again!”

Lee Zeldin, a former congressman and Trump ally who is chairman of Leadership America Needs PAC, tweeted after the verdict that “I just secured $800,000 from someone for President Trump’s Joint Fundraising Committee. I’ve never been asked to donate such a large amount so easily.”

Trump’s fundraising efforts are sure to continue even after the ruling, which will be appealed, and his allies, including many in Congress, are encouraging Americans to donate to his cause.

“The best way to fight back against this sham trial is to donate to the Trump Campaign,” Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) tweeted.
