Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday called on President Biden’s administration to update plans for arms supplies to Israel.

Netanyahu’s office issued a statement on Tuesday saying it was “inconceivable” that the U.S. was withholding military aid. The statement came after Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with senior Israeli officials, including Netanyahu, last week. The Biden administration has been increasingly critical of Israel’s handling of the Gaza war.

“During Secretary Blinken’s recent visit to Israel, we had frank discussions. I said I deeply appreciate the support the United States has given to Israel since the start of the war. But I also said it was inconceivable that the administration had withheld arms and ammunition from Israel over the past few months,” Netanyahu said.

“America’s closest ally, Israel, is fighting for survival against Iran and other common enemies. Secretary of State Blinken has assured me that the administration is working day and night to remove these obstacles. I certainly hope that is the case. That should be the case,” he added.

“During World War II, Churchill said to the United States, ‘Give us the tools and we’ll get the job done,’ and I say, ‘Give us the tools and we’ll get the job done a lot quicker,'” he continued.

The statement comes as the White House faces intense scrutiny from House Republicans, particularly over aid funding for Gaza, who demanded on Tuesday that the Biden administration reveal its strategy to keep a recently announced $404 million Gaza aid package out of the hands of Hamas.

“While we understand that the purpose of this aid package is to provide food, drinking water, education, shelter and other services to civilians in the trenches, we are deeply concerned that a significant portion of these funds will inevitably end up in the hands of Hamas, a terrorist organization designated by the State Department,” Fallon said in the letter, led by seven other Republican lawmakers.
