Rep. John James booed at RNC after bragging about Lions in Packers’ territory: ‘Warmest regards from Detroit’

Republican Sen. John James of Michigan bragged about his hometown football team on enemy territory. Republican National Convention Monday night.

James took to the stage at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and immediately Detroit Lions Last season, he played in the playoffs in front of a room full of Green Bay Packers fans, presumably.

“Good evening, Wisconsin. Heartfelt greetings from Detroit, home of the NFC North champions, Detroit Lions,” James said.

Not surprisingly, his praise was met with loud boos from the Republican crowd, as James quickly returned to politics.

The Lions won their division title last season for the first time in 30 years and won two games in one postseason for the first time since 1957. Their 12-5 record was the franchise’s first 10-win season in nearly a decade and their best winning percentage since 1991.
