MILWAUKEE — Republicans attending the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee spoke to Fox News Digital about what they expect and want to hear from former President Trump when he speaks for the first time since the assassination attempt at his last rally.
““America is at an incredible turning point, an inflection point,” Ohio Republican Attorney General Dave Yost told Fox News Digital.
“In rising from that horrible, evil attempt on his life, President Trump has shown the strength of character, resolve and strength of heart that America has been waiting for. I think this showcase gives him an opportunity to go beyond the filter of traditional media and speak to the American people at a moment when they need a message of strength, stability and hope. I think he can bring that. Now is his moment.”
Mehek Koch, a political consultant and rep for Trump, told Fox News Digital that she hopes to hear a message of “unity” from the former president.

“I believe he started this movement because voters continued to abandon Joe Biden in large numbers. Black voters, Hispanics, even young people in battleground states are now supporting President Trump, but I think the events of Saturday changed all that,” Cook said.
“The assassination attempt on President Trump proved that the American spirit was under attack. When President Trump stood up and shouted, without any instructions, “Fight, fight, fight,” that was his first reaction to tell the American people that he was OK and that he was with them. It showed hope for America.”
Cook continued, “He really has proven to be a beacon of light. I believe he’s going to stand on stage and talk about unifying America. And it’s not just unifying Republicans. It’s independents, it’s Democrats, it’s you and me. It’s the average American voter. And I think the selection of J.D. Vance is really about generational shift and change. This isn’t about the next four years. This is about a legacy. 12 years to undo what Joe Biden has done to this great country. So it’s all about unity for President Trump through 2024.”

““Some of the people listening to President Trump’s speech are still undecided about who they think the next president of the United States should be, and this is an opportunity for them to tell their constituents where they stand on the issues that matter most to them,” former Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin told Fox News Digital.
““If President Trump takes the 47th presidency, he will have the opportunity to outline not just the greatness of his first term and the successes he has had during his term, but also a positive, optimistic vision for America.”

President Trump is scheduled to conclude the 2024 Republican National Convention on Thursday night with his first speech since a 20-year-old gunman tried to assassinate him in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.
Trump He told the Washington Examiner He rewrote his speech after nearly losing his life.
“The speech that I was going to give on Thursday was going to be crazy,” Trump told the outlet. “If this hadn’t happened, it would have been one of the greatest speeches ever. It would be a very different speech now, honestly.”
