During a conversation about President Biden and President Trump’s personal lives, MSNBC host Joy Reid suggested that former President Trump doesn’t appear to have a close or particularly affectionate relationship with his family.
“Donald Trump has grandchildren, too, but their physical interactions at the convention felt very cold and somewhat impersonal,” Reid said Wednesday. “It didn’t seem real. Melania was completely missing.”
Several members of Trump’s family, including his sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. and granddaughter Kai, spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Members of the Trump family have played key roles in his administration and campaigns in recent years.

Reade contrasted President Biden’s relationship with his wife, Jill Biden, and the rest of his family to that of President Trump’s family.
“This had to be a lifetime commitment or I wouldn’t have done it,” Reid said, recounting Jill’s thoughts before beginning her relationship with Joe.
“That’s the kind of couple they are,” Reid says, “and just reading the poolside notes and the closeness of this family, it’s such a contrast to the other families at the table.”
“It’s just different,” she said, adding, “Every family is different.”
The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Biden’s family has also played a key role in his political career, with Jill Biden speaking in support of her husband at multiple rallies across the country before he dropped out of the race. Biden’s son, Hunter, has been the subject of national controversy, having been convicted in June of three felony counts related to a 2018 handgun purchase.
Before President Biden decided to drop out of the race, Hunter Biden I started attending meetings. His appearance at the White House came just a week after debating President Trump, but a White House source told NBC at the time that his sudden appearance caused confusion and left many wondering “what on earth was going on?”
