Why does the FBI keep lying about the attempted assassination of Trump?

If you lie under oath before Congress, you go to jail. The rules are simple and they certainly apply to conservatives. Steve Bannon is currently serving time in prison for contempt of Congress for refusing to testify in a politically motivated investigation centered on the events of January 6, 2021. But FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Director Paul Abbate blatantly lied to Congress about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. These two have not hesitated to lie, and they do not expect to be repaid for their blatant disregard for the truth.

The FBI is a dangerous, rogue agency that regularly acts with political malice to harm Democratic opponents, and it appears the FBI is currently engaged in a coordinated disinformation campaign surrounding the shooting of a former president, yet the FBI has refused to hold anyone accountable.

The FBI is a dangerous organization that thinks it is above the law and immune from consequences, and its leaders have good reason to feel that way.

When the iconic photo of a bloodied Trump raising his fist after the assassination attempt first emerged, progressives immediately responded with several conspiracy theories. The heroic image of the former president simply cannot coexist with the left’s image of Trump as a cowardly con man who makes a few bucks by stoking the resentment of white America.

Initially, the hysterical social media mob concocted an elaborate story about some big orange Hitler paying a skilled sniper to graze his ear, creating a bloody but non-fatal scene that would mark another Reichstag fire and usher in dictatorship. This hoax proved too absurd even for fanatical, delusional Trump haters, so a new theory emerged: It wasn’t a bullet that ended up hitting the real estate mogul, but broken glass.

This theory was less convincing, but sounded more plausible. Celebrities quickly joined left-leaning media outlets in speculating that Trump had not been hit by a bullet, but had simply been grazed by shrapnel. It is worth noting that Alex Jones faced a $1.5 billion judgment after a jury found him to have made false claims about the Sandy Hook shooting. Despite the existence of photographs that clearly showed bullets flying during the incident, this conspiracy theory was eagerly repeated in the aftermath of the assassination attempt by those seeking to undermine the impact of Trump’s bravery.

The “shrapnel” conspiracy theory is so stupid and patently false that it was extremely odd to see it mentioned by FBI Director Christopher Wray as a possible explanation for Trump’s injuries when he testified before Congress last week.

Wray, a Trump appointee, is not the kind of guy who will show up to a congressional hearing and repeat exactly what he heard on MSNBC. Wray runs one of the leading law enforcement agencies in the country and has access to high-level briefings. He would have had full knowledge of what really happened to Trump, yet he chose to weave blatant lies into his testimony, feeding the left’s delusional fake news. Wray weaved these lies because he knows he is above the law.

Authorities have released suspiciously little information about the man who tried to kill Donald Trump. Like Audrey Hale, the transgender suspect who shot and killed six people at a Nashville Christian school last year, Thomas Matthew Crooks’ motives could prove inconvenient to those in power, and police are trying hard to keep them secret. Crooks was initially thought to be a lone 20-year-old with no social media footprint or signs of political leanings. The FBI later revealed that they had found one account on the social media platform Gab that they believed belonged to the would-be assassin.

For those who don’t know, Gab is a social media site that is fiercely committed to free speech. Because of its focus on open conversation, the site is populated by far-right users who are banned from other platforms. Progressives and law enforcement allies would like to paint Crooks as a disgruntled right-winger angry that Trump wasn’t radical enough, but that’s not true. documents According to information released by CEO Andrew Trouba, the shooter was using Gab to troll conservatives, post support for Biden and support the administration’s lockdowns and border policies.

On Tuesday, Deputy Director Paul Abbate was called to testify before Congress, and under questioning from Sen. John Kennedy (R-Louisiana), Abbate contradicted Wray’s earlier testimony, stating that he was almost certain that Trump was hit by the bullet and that no one at the FBI thought otherwise.

It would be strange enough if Mr. Abbate simply testified under oath that his boss had committed perjury on live television, but Mr. Abbate went on to fabricate his own lies in front of the committee.

Although the existence and contents of Crooks’ Gab account were already publicly known because Torba had made it public at the request of law enforcement, Abbate appeared to perjure himself when he testified that Crooks’ social media account contained 700 comments expressing anti-immigrant and anti-Semitic views, and that this was the only social media activity that could shed light on the shooter’s motive.

“Trouba immediately contacted X (formerly Twitter) to submit an FBI request for information along with posts by Crooks revealing a completely different political ideology than that portrayed by Abbate. While it’s possible that Abbate was referring to a previously unknown account, the Deputy Director did not mention the Gab posts supporting Biden. Given the available evidence, it appears highly likely that Abbate knowingly lied under oath in order to misrepresent Crooks’ political leanings and create a public narrative favored by the notoriously biased FBI.”

The events surrounding Donald Trump’s shooting and the massive security failures that followed are already highly suspicious, and the fact that a senior FBI official is seeking to further increase distrust by promoting outlandish conspiracy theories and lying to Congress is downright bizarre.

One thing is certain: the FBI is a dangerous organization that sees itself as above the law and immune to consequences, and its leaders have good reason to feel that way. No conservative politician is willing to take meaningful action against bad actors in politics. If Donald Trump returns to the White House, he’d better have a plan to dismantle the FBI, brick by brick, or the FBI will bury him alive.
