“This is what Los Angeles has come to,” a man filming video of the incident can be heard saying, according to KTLA. “Hey, I’m not even playing. I literally just parked my car. These kids are wild and they’re not even 20 years old.”
According to the station, Ull was barefoot and limping while the youths pushed and punched him in the back of the head.
Ultimately, Ull ended up with a broken leg that required surgery, as well as deep cuts all over his body from being kicked and punched while on the ground, KTLA reported.
“All of a sudden, someone pulled me up and literally saved my life,” Ull told the station. “It was a young woman. [who took] Put me aside…”
Several adults, including a witness who recorded the video, tried to stop the attack and get the teens to leave the scene, KTLA reported, adding that traffic was backed up as a result of the attack.
“It’s been a week and no one has been arrested.”
Ull told the station that he had packed many of his belongings in his car because he was planning to move, but much of it is now gone, including documents, cash and credit cards.
The victim told KTLA that he had done nothing to provoke the attack, but in the video, one of the teens can be heard telling a witness who was recording that Ull drove past them in his car and nearly ran him over.
As you’d expect, all of the teenage attackers had fled the scene by the time police arrived, and Ull was taken to hospital, police said.
“It’s been a week and no one has been arrested,” he told KTLA. “They even took my bank card and tried to use it a few days later.”
