Rep. Jordan says Kamala Harris could fix the border, economy as VP but hasn’t: ‘She’s made it worse’

Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio said Tuesday that Vice President Kamala Harris, who is also the Democratic presidential nominee, should be able to solve problems such as the border crisis, the economy and crime in her current position as vice president, but she has not done so.

This comes as Harris has begun pledging what her administration would do if she defeats former President Trump in November and becomes the next president, including strengthening border security, fighting for the middle class and working to pass gun control laws like universal background checks, red flag laws and an assault weapons ban.

But Republicans have criticized Harris over the policies on immigration, the economy and crime that the Biden-Harris administration pushed forward during her time as vice president.

“Kamala Harris could fix the border right now. She didn’t,” Jordan wrote on Platform X, Twitter’s former name. “She could fix the economy right now. She made it worse. She could clean up Dem-run cities right now. But she raises money to bail out rioters.”

President Biden nominated Harris for the post in 2021. mass Migration Regarding immigration from Latin America, some Democrats and media figures have recently argued that Harris was never appointed as “Minister of Border Affairs,” even though some of the same media have previously described her as such.

Biden said in March 2021 that Harris was leading efforts to work with Northern Triangle countries — Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador — to address issues such as the surge of migrants at the southern border.

Harris has said she will not pursue a “Medicare for All” plan, despite her previous support.

The House of Representatives last month passed a resolution censoring Harris as a border official over her handling of the mass migrant crisis at the US-Mexico border. The resolution passed by a vote of 220-196.

Jordan’s allegation that Harris is raising bail funds for rioters was a reference to a June 2020 social media post in which she urged people to donate to the nonprofit Minnesota Freedom Fund “to help with bail for those protesting locally in Minnesota” following the death of George Floyd, who was killed by a Minneapolis police officer in May 2020.
