Migrant Apprehensions in California Border Sector Increase for 2nd Straight Week

San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents have reported an increase in migrant apprehensions for the second straight week, with agents encountering roughly 13,000 migrants over the past four weeks.

San Diego District Chief Patrol Agent Patricia McGurk Daniel posted her weekly report on social media, revealing that the department has arrested 3,389 immigrants in the past seven days. The report also listed 25 interdicted human smuggling cases, 23 felony transfers, and the seizure of more than 300 pounds of narcotics.

The number of immigration arrests was up from the previous week, when agents apprehended 3,174 immigrants illegally crossing the border between ports of entry. During that period, agents thwarted 21 human smuggling attempts and prosecuted 19 felony cases.

The weekly report for the week ending July 27 showed a decrease from the previous week’s report. During this period, agents encountered 3,089 migrants and prevented 26 smuggling cases.

The previous report said 3,958 migrants were arrested.

Not all migrants crossing into the San Diego area are willing to surrender to the first agent they encounter. On August 12, McGurk Daniel posted photos of migrants fleeing the rugged terrain on this part of the US-Mexico border.

The San Diego area led the nation in migrant apprehensions in July, according to an unofficial Border Patrol report reviewed by Breitbart Texas, which found that more than 15,000 migrants were apprehended that month.
