Arizona man who threatened to kill Trump arrested

A 66-year-old Arizona man who allegedly threatened to kill former President Trump during his stop in the Grand Canyon State was arrested Thursday, local authorities said.

Ronald Sivuld was arrested and taken into custody without incident in Cochise County, the sheriff’s office said. Share on Facebook.

“The investigation is ongoing and we are continuing to investigate,” said Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office. News Nation Sivrud made the threat on social media.

Syverud’s arrest came just hours after law enforcement launched a manhunt, with authorities saying early Thursday that he was “being pursued as a lead in an investigation into threats to kill a presidential candidate.”

The 66-year-old man has an outstanding arrest warrant in Wisconsin for DUI, and is also wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and a hit-and-run in Arizona, according to the sheriff’s office.

While campaigning in Cochise County, Trump criticized Vice President Harris on immigration, one of the key issues of the campaign.

The former president told stories of people killed by immigrants, he promised to complete construction of a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border and advocated tougher penalties for drug traffickers.

“She’ll never build a wall. She doesn’t want to build a wall,” Trump said. “If she changes her mind, it’s only because she wants to get elected. Who doesn’t want a strong border?”

The threat against Trump comes just a month after he survived an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who shot Trump in the right ear and killed another attendee.

Trump addressed the danger he faces in an interview with NewsNation early Thursday.

“Can I just tell you something? It’s dangerous talking here,” Trump said in the interview. Ali Bradley of NewsNationAt the southern border of the U.S. “So let’s not talk about it anymore.”
