The announcement was made during a major economic speech in New York City.
Trump's proposed plan includes a cut in corporate tax rates from 21% to 15% for companies that manufacture domestically, and he has vowed to “make America a richer and stronger nation.”
During Trump's presidency in 2018, the former president similarly slashed corporate taxes, encouraging large companies like Costco and Starbucks to give big pay raises and other benefits to their employees.

Trump did not provide details about how the proposed committee would operate, but the announcement marked the first time he has publicly said Musk has agreed to lead the program.
Musk first proposed the program to Trump a few weeks ago during a live interview on Musk's popular social platform, X.
“I think it would be great to have a government efficiency commission that would look at these issues and make sure that taxpayer money, taxpayer hard-earned money, is being spent appropriately,” Musk told Trump in the interview.
Alongside the announcement, President Trump used the time to voice his concerns about Kamala Harris' radical policies.
“She promises communist price controls, wealth confiscation, energy extermination and reparations; the biggest tax increases in history; and mass amnesty and citizenship for tens of millions of immigrants that will consume trillions of dollars in federal benefits and destroy Social Security and Medicare,” he said.
“If given the opportunity, I would like to serve America,” Musk wrote in X. “No salary, title, or recognition required.”
Trump added that he may open up certain areas of federal land for housing construction to lower housing prices. He described the new areas as “low tax” and “low regulation,” but gave no details.
“We're going to open up the country to allow for the construction of affordable housing so young people and others can buy homes,” he continued.
President Trump also placed emphasis on energy as a way to reduce costs for ordinary Americans, setting forth a plan to “cut energy prices in half or more within 12 months of taking office.”
