Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said on MSNBC's “The Lead Out” on Monday that former President Donald Trump “would truly destroy our democracy” if he were to win the presidential election.
Warren said, “He's not even being subtle when he says he'll pardon those who participated in the January 6th riot. I think he's holding up a giant sign that if he loses this election, he'll offer a blanket pardon to anyone who would resort to any kind of violence to get to the White House, and to everybody if he gets to the White House. This is not about the past, this is about inciting people for the future. I think he's once again telling us exactly what his plan is for our democracy. Given the chance, Donald Trump would really destroy our democracy.”
She continued, “What he's trying to do is empower people to incite further violence.”
Warren added, “I think that's the biggest difference we're going to make in tomorrow night's debate: What kind of country do we want to have going forward? Do we have a Donald Trump who is dividing and hating, who is tearing people apart, who is inciting violence and destroying our democracy, or do we have a Kamala Harris who truly believes that if we work together, we can build an America of more opportunity?”
