Lawyer Argues Gunshot Wound to the Chest of Ricky Pearsall Was Not Attempted Murder

The lawyer for a 17-year-old charged with attempted murder for shooting 49ers first-round draft pick Ricky Pearsall in the chest during an attempted robbery earlier this month argues his client did not mean to kill Pearsall.

Dunlap also disputed the report that his client brought a gun to school.

“My client did not have a gun at the school,” Dunlap said. “This is a false report.”

Prosecutors have decided to charge Dunlap with attempted murder but have not yet decided whether to charge him as an adult. His next hearing is scheduled for September 26.
