Vice President Harris is expected to be stepped up in the coming days as she seeks to build on the momentum of her performance in Tuesday's debate with former President Trump.
Ms Harris begins what her campaign is calling the “New Way Forward Tour” on Thursday, with a stop in North Carolina. She will head to Pennsylvania on Friday, while her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat, will visit Michigan and Wisconsin.
The campaign plans to launch new ads in the coming days that feature key moments from the debate between Harris and Trump. First Ad The speech, which debuted late Wednesday, contrasts Trump's portrayal of the United States as a “failed state” with Harris' call for a “new generation of leadership.”
Additionally, Harris is expected to give more media interviews as she focuses on appealing to voters in key battleground states.
Harris will give interviews to local media in battleground states during the trip, and will also participate in a meeting with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) next week, her campaign said.
Former President Trump came under fire in late July for a controversial interview with an NABJ reporter in which he questioned Harris' mixed race heritage and criticized her for not attending the event, which took place just days after she replaced President Biden as the Democratic nominee.
Harris has come under criticism from Republicans for giving few media interviews since becoming the Democratic nominee — she has given just one major interview to CNN.
During Tuesday's debate, Harris repeatedly got on Trump's nerves, taunting him with comments about his rally audiences, Project 2025, foreign leaders who have mocked him and critics such as the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and calling on the country to change its view of the former president.
A CNN rapid poll of debate viewers found that 63% said Harris won the debate, compared with 37% who said Trump won.
