‘Dump the Dems’: How the left’s gender policies scare off voters

No one knows who will win the 2024 US presidential election, but what I am certain of is that countless Democrats (and former Democrats) will either not vote or will vote for Donald Trump, a phenomenon that has come to be known as “Dump the Democrats” (#dumpthedems has become a popular hashtag on X/Twitter).

a lot There are a lot of people who are fed up with the Democratic Party. There are a lot of men who, for a variety of reasons, would claim to be women. I hear from Democrats and former Democrats every day. The Democratic Party leadership has only itself to blame.

Democratic Party leaders continue to ignore the “Democrat Removal” phenomenon at their peril, a phenomenon that doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon.

I have never voted Republican for president. I registered to vote in 1990, voted for Bill Clinton in 1992, and have voted Democrat in every presidential election since then, with one exception: voting for Ralph Nader in 2020. I have only voted Republican once in a mayoral election, many years ago, when the Republican at the time was an openly pro-abortion fiscal moderate who I really thought was the better candidate.

I will not be voting for Donald Trump because I think he is a disgusting, sociopathic rapist, and I am a staunch supporter of abortion rights, and at this point, I do not intend to vote for Kamala Harris because I am appalled by her eagerness to victimize women and girls because of their “gender identity.”

Democratic leaders have been trying (and in many cases succeeding) to write “gender identity” into law at least since 2015, when Democrats introduced the so-called Equality Act, which, if passed, would have given men free access to women-only spaces, sports, and prisons across the country by redefining the word “sex” under U.S. civil rights law to include “gender identity” in all its meanings.

Since then, left-wing radical feminists, including myself, have been explaining to Democratic Party leaders how damaging this is to women and girls as a gender class. They have ignored us.

In November 2023, I Published In “Reckoning: How the Democrats and the Left Betrayed Women and Girls,” I explained all the tactics that left-wing radical feminists have taken to convince Democratic Party leaders that “gender identity” is sexist, homophobic, anti-science, and authoritarian.

I cited countless examples of women being held in locked cells, living with male rapists and murderers who claim to have a female “gender identity.”

I provided a long list of female athletes who had races and medals stolen from them by male athletes who claimed a female “gender identity,” and explained how children were being irreparably harmed by doctors at the mercy of a nefarious industry that promotes “gender identity” at every turn. I told them to change course, and gave them detailed policy instructions on how to do so. They didn't.

Former Hawaiian Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard made headlines when she left the Democratic Party in 2022. Among her reasons She left because the Democratic Party “can no longer define what a woman is, demand that we replace 'mother' with 'birth-giver,' or put women at risk to please biological men who claim to be women at all times.” And she's right. Gabbard chose to run as an independent rather than become a Republican, but is now working for the Trump campaign.

Gloria Romero, a former California senator and leading Democrat, went even further this month. She Announced Last week, she announced that she was leaving the party, becoming a Republican, and voting for Trump. “It's horrifying to see language being altered to the point that I, a feminist and former professor, am accused of simply defining woman and saying that biological sex can be distinct from gender identity,” she said. (Romero spoke at length about her decision to The Blaze Media.)

As a lifelong leftist and feminist who has myself been criticized for knowing what it means to be a woman and for making a distinction between sex and “gender identity,” I can sympathize.

In August I Open Letter It prompted Vice President Kamala Harris to stand up at the Democratic National Convention, say women are adult women, and apologize for the deeply embarrassing comments she made. letter She sent Dylan Mulvaney a letter congratulating her on “365 Days of Girlhood.”

“You say you care about the women and girls of America,” I wrote. “Now is the time to put your money where your mouth is. Many of us are watching and hoping that you will do the right thing.” I didn't expect her to do that, and I didn't expect her to either.

The danger is that Democratic Party leaders continue to ignore the “Democrat Removal” phenomenon, which is not likely to disappear anytime soon.
