Kamala Harris Supporter Alexander Vindman and his wife seized on the second assassination attempt on President Donald Trump as a new opportunity to attack Republicans, and their latest attack wasn't received well online.
Vindman served as the star witness in the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump's July 25, 2019 phone call with Volodymyr Zelensky. Since then, the Ukrainian-born former White House official has focused on his new career as a critic of President Trump.
A few days after Vindman reposted Harris' pitch

Many people took to the internet to express concern for President Trump and his family, including President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, after gunfire rang out outside the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach and reports of a possible assassination attempt.
Vindman and his wife took turns expressing their hatred for Trump.
Shortly after the assassination attempt was thwarted, Harris supporter Rachel Vindman, his wife,
Tweeted“Your ears are unharmed. Enjoy your Sunday afternoon.”
“Left-wing “tolerance,” folks.”
Rachel Vindman was apparently downplaying two mass shootings: the most recent one and the July 13 assassination attempt in which President Trump was shot and former firefighter Corey Comperatore was killed while trying to protect his family, and two others were seriously injured.
Some were incredulous that the wife of a Harris supporter could suddenly make such an insensitive comment.
Former New York Times reporter Alex Berenson
asked“Did you really just say that?”
Comedian Rob Schneider
Written“The 'tolerance' of the 'Ladies and Gentlemen of the 'Left'. At the very least, these demons have revealed themselves to be the loathsome, ruthless charlatans they are.”
Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL)
Written“Does this represent the position of the Vindman family as a whole? Does it represent the position of someone who's running for Congress in particular?”
Walz was referring to Eugene Vindman, the twin brother of Alexander Vindman, who is running for Congress as a Democrat in Virginia's 7th Congressional District.
Fox News host Laura Ingraham
Written“This fine woman is the wife of Alexander Vindman, the lead witness in the impeachment of President Trump. She today mocked the second assassination attempt on President Donald Trump. Of course, if the same thing had happened to Zelensky, she would demand an international investigation.”
Christine Hawkins, president of the American Student Life Association, said:
Tweeted“This is disgusting.”
Rachel Vindman later clarified that her original message had been interpreted as intended, saying in a subsequent statement:
Tweet“I'm sorry, you [laughing emoji]No, that's not true. I don't care at all.”
“Trump has been inciting violence against his opponents for years. He pours gasoline on the situation, lights the match and then walks away without claiming responsibility.”
Added Rachel Vindman. “Look at what's going on in Springfield, Ohio right now. But he wants to claim he's the victim. You can't have both at the same time.”
Alexander Vindman quickly joined his wife in attacking Trump and downplaying the political assassination attempt.
When Trump's co-campaign manager, Chris LaCivita, a Marine veteran, suggested Alexander Vindman condemn his wife's comments, Vindman instead
Written“I condemn you. I condemn your lack of integrity, your attacks on immigrants, and your desecration of Arlington National Cemetery.”
Vindman was referring not to the Biden-Harris administration's trampling of graves or the toppling of a Jewish-American-designed reconciliation monument, but to President Trump's recent visit, where the Republican joined several Gold Star recipient families in mourning the 13 service members killed in the Biden-Harris administration's botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Vindman added, “Your candidate, @realDonaldTrump, has been inciting political violence for a decade. He may be able to ease tensions this election cycle, but you MAGA people thrive on bullying. The fact is, you are all weak.”
Harris supporters implied that Trump was to blame for the targeting.
