Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pennsylvania, on Sunday rejected Sen. Bernie Sanders' criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and praised Israel's recent attacks on Hezbollah.
“Every time an agreement appears to be near, Prime Minister Netanyahu moves the goalposts, brings up new demands and undermines it. It is clear that Prime Minister Netanyahu is prolonging the war to cling to power,” Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont, said on the Senate floor.
“Israel is a very important country, and we need to be prepared for it,” Sanders said.
“No, not at all. Let me be clear: I fully support Israel's choice to blow up the pagers and walkie-talkies and then target and eliminate Hezbollah members and leaders. In fact, I rather like it,” Fetterman replied.

“Israel has shown that it will not allow terrorists to go unaccounted for, and I fully support that. As my colleague said, this is not for nothing,” Fetterman said.
Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) have condemned Israel over the pager attacks.
“Israeli pager attack in Lebanon detonates thousands of mobile devices. [sic] “They have attacked numerous public places, severely injuring and killing innocent civilians,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a social media post.

“This attack clearly violates international humanitarian law and undermines U.S. efforts to prevent the escalation of the conflict. Congress demands a full accounting of the attack, including answers from the State Department about whether U.S. assistance was provided in the development or deployment of this technology,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.
