Suspect charged with attempted murder after crazy video shows ATV driver ram into man as San Francisco cops look on

On the night of February 11, the same day as Super Bowl III between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, Ariel Cruz went to a convenience store at a Gulf Coast gas station after the game. However, a group of men driving dirt bikes and ATVs confronted Cruz.

KPIX-TV reported that officers from the Stunt Driving Response Unit were called to a gas station to tow a vehicle in connection with a separate incident. After police arrived, they attempted to de-escalate the situation by yelling at both parties, but the situation only escalated.

The dirt bike rider and ATV rider circled the gas pump and began driving recklessly, hitting one of the officers in the face.

The ATV driver struck Cruz, who was wearing a red 49ers jersey.

The suspect abandoned the ATV at the crime scene and fled on a dirt bike driven by another man.

On Tuesday, San Francisco police announced The suspect, believed to be an ATV rider, was arrested.

The San Francisco Police Department's General Affairs Office, with assistance from the Community Violence Reduction Team, investigated the incident that led to the arrest of 31-year-old Julian Alberto Uragomez on August 29th.

Uroagomez was arrested at the Ingleside Police Department on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer, and filing a false police report.

Uragomez remains held without bail, according to jail records. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 15th.

“Due to a variety of factors, these investigations can take some time, but our investigators continue to work diligently to investigate and follow up on these incidents,” the San Francisco Police Department said in a statement. “SFPD does not tolerate this dangerous behavior and reckless drivers of any vehicle will be held accountable.”
