Democratic governor tells Walz to ‘put the human face’ on Harris policies ahead of VP debate

Gov. Ned Lamont (D-Conn.) has directed Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) to “put a human face” on Vice President Harris' policies in preparation for the upcoming vice presidential debate.

“I think he has no choice but to put a human face to the Harris-Waltz policy,” Lamont said Sunday on NewsNation's “The Hill Sunday.”

Mr. Lamont offered advice to Mr. Walz, a fellow Democratic governor who will face Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) in Tuesday's key debate.

Lamont argued that Walz should “place a huge emphasis on small businesses, startups, and innovation,” in contrast to former President Trump's business record.

He said the focus should be on what Harris and Walz are trying to do to “lift the middle class up and give people the opportunity to own their own homes and own their own businesses.” Ta.

Lamont said he likes Walz because he “lived a life before politics.” The Democrat drew on Mr. Walz's modest Midwestern background, serving in the National Guard, serving as a high school teacher and football coach, before running for Congress and becoming governor of Minnesota.

The Connecticut governor argued that the skills Walz brought to the job as governor, including balancing the budget, were unique and told a different story than Vance's past.

“I think he'll tell that story and tell it well,” Lamont said of Walz.
