If the Mets look for a rehab game for Jeff McNeil, he could end up in Arizona.
The Mets' minor league facility is located in Port St. Lucie as Hurricane Milton hits Florida, but manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday the team could petition MLB for permission for McNeil to play in the Arizona Fall League. He said that there is a sex.
McNeil, who is rehabbing from a fractured right wrist, worked out with teammates at Citi Field before the Mets' 7-2 win over the Phillies in Game 3, but team officials said he was unable to play in the game. If the Mets advance, the NLCS could be triggered immediately.
Mendoza cited Kyle Schwarber, who played in the Arizona Fall League before joining the Cubs' World Series roster in 2016 after missing most of the season with a previous injury.
One of the decisions Mendoza will face is which pitcher will carry Kodai Chiga in Game 5, which could be played Friday.
The manager plans to give Luis Severino a complete rest that day, but David Peterson also pitched well on Saturday in the role of Chiga, who returned from the disabled list.

Mendoza has received a lot of congratulations this offseason after the Mets won in October. But Mendoza struggled to say who he received the most surprising message from.
“It's hard to sit here and say names because I have 400, 500 text messages. I can't believe it,” Mendoza said. “It's just a grateful and humbling experience. Even after a game like the one we had last week, it just continues. It's about having a lot of guys in your corner, guys pulling you through. It's definitely a special feeling and a humbling feeling.”
